Home Away from Home
Campers live together in mixed groups in cabins on a hillside which commands an excellent view of the surrounding country. Ages range in a single cabin from 8 to 15 years old with two counselors in charge.
Our philosophy is to allow the girls to be exposed to all age groups to encourage leadership and provide more diverse interaction just as one may experience in real life.
The Camp dining porch, kitchen, and infirmary are in the McLaughlin home, a large early 19th century brick house. Below the cabins is a lake which is fed continuously by pure mountain springs, ideal for swimming, diving, and fishing.
Friendships
What would camp be without friends. At Camp Lachlan, girls develop friendships with girls from all over the country. Many of the girls keep in touch with one another long after camp ends and until it begins again the next summer.
Activities
Camp Lachlan has a full range of activities in which each camper participates. Activities are carefully supervised, basic skills are taught, and fundamentals are stressed. Good sportsmanship in all camp life is emphasized. Activities include: swimming, archery, riflery, gymnastics, team sports, crafts, canoeing, horseback, volleyball and more.
Group activities include: Hiking, campfires, trip days, movie night, dance, church, team games, and devotions.
